Description

This is a complete Colorimetry lab lesson including powerpoint and student lab sheet. This lesson takes 60-80 minutes and is meant as an introduction to light and colorimetry. This lab uses Vernier Colorimeters and food coloring.

Learning Objectives:
Students will understand that:
•The double slit experiment yielded the experimental evidence that light has wave-like properties.
•The color of an object is determined by the wavelengths that are NOT absorbed by the material.
•The colorimeter is designed to determine which wavelengths of light are absorbed by a substance.

Students will be able to:
•Make predictions based on theory to determine which colors will be absorbed by colored substances.
•Write an appropriate conclusion based on experimental evidence.
