Combining Like Terms | Scaffolded Notes | Instructional Video
Share

Description

Students can learn about the Combining Like Terms by watching a video and filling in the notes. The notes also includes practice problems to assist the students in mastering the new skills.

Video Link - https://youtu.be/kUnYb0iBEKQ

The video explains the steps to simplify an expression by Combining Like Terms. Specifically, how to use different colors or shapes to recognize different pairs of like terms, and to include the operational sign before each term, which seems to eliminate the most common mistakes when students are first learning to combine like terms.

I would recommend you have the students work individually so they can complete the video and notes at their own pace. It takes about 20 minutes for most students to watch the video and complete the notes.
