Description

Here is a great combining like terms sort that may be used for a station rotation activity, individually, or even in small groups! NO NEGATIVES INCLUDED.

The students must simplify each expression, then create groups of the expressions with the identical answers. Each algebraic expression will have a simplified answer of EITHER 9x + 9, 11x + 6, or 4x + 2.

There are a few options on how your students can complete this activity.

1.) You may print out the cards, then have them sort the groups from there. They may glue it on their own paper or construction paper.

2.) You may print out the cards AND the table, then have them sort/glue each piece under the given expressions on the table provided. This allows the students to actually see the expressions we are looking for in advance.

3.) After printing the cards, the students can color the expressions that have identical answers the same color. This eliminates the cutting process.

I hope your students enjoy this activity!
