This Google Slideshow provides definitions, examples, and practice sentences with answer keys for all 7 COMMA RULES:

  1. Use commas to separate items in a series.
  2. Use commas to separate two or more adjectives that come before a noun.
  3. Use a comma to combine sentences.
  4. Use commas to set off an expression that interrupts a sentence.
  5. Use a comma after introductory interjections, prepositional phrases, or adverb clauses.
  6. Use a comma in dates, addresses, and in the greeting or closing of a letter.
  7. Do not use unnecessary commas.

Additionally, this resource includes a Google Doc with SCAFFOLDED NOTES SHEETS for each of the 4 LESSONS, PLUS, the bonus Oxford Comma: Google Forms Self-Guided Lesson!

The 7 COMMA RULES are broken down into 4 manageable lessons:

Lesson 1

What is a comma?

Use commas to separate items in a series.

Lesson 3
