This is a scoring rubric for expository pieces for the common core standard W.6.2, writing informative or explanatory texts. The rubric lists the common core standard at the top and then divides the standard into 10 scoreable criteria in the table below. There is a place for the STUDENT to score the piece on a 5 point scale before turning it in to encourage reflection and focus on the rubric, and a place for the TEACHER to score the piece using the same criteria and scale. Put the scores together for an easy final grade out of 100%. Use for ANY EXPOSITORY PIECE all year long!
