Adapted books are an excellent resource for any age or grade level because of their wide versatility and range of use across numerous special education and/or speech/language therapy goals. This adapted book focuses on the cloze phrase "___ help us ___" to describe how various professionals in the community help us in our everyday life. The book is written to be predictable in nature so that students can practice grammatical sentences wherein the label of the community helper and their function is the only thing that changes as the book progresses. These books are wonderful for practicing appropriate sentence formulation as well as increasing mean length of utterance (MLU) for students with limited language skills. For best results, it is beneficial to do a picture walk prior to reading this adapted book or using other products in the Community Helpers Thematic Unit to learn and practice applicable vocabulary.

These adapted books can be printed or uploaded to your tablet (iPad, Kindle, etc.) for use in the classroom, teletherapy services, and/or distance learning activities with families of students on your caseload.
