Description

I created this math activity for my students to understand what it means to compare numbers. This topic can be confusing since you are using the operation of subtraction, yet the problem may say "how many more than" or "how many fewer". I used this activity so that students can see the "difference" between 2 numbers. They are to build the 2 numbers in the problem, then color the blocks to match the modey they made, then they can see the difference - which is the answer to the subtraction problem. I used this in small groups, but it could also be a center activity. Enjoy! And also check out all of my other themed and non-themed subtraction activities, centers and worksheets for both basic subtraction and 2-3 digits!
