Description

This PowerPoint presentation guides students through comparing decimals by understanding the value of the digit in a place value. Through animation and lots of visuals, it helps students to make sense of the relationship between tenths and hundredths and to see why 0.8 is greater than 0.58.

The main focus on the presentation is comparing 0.8 and 0.58 through the context of the 2016 Rio Men's 100 Meter Freestyle race; however, it also includes 2 other guided practice problems and 4 independent practice problems (with a printable slide at the end for students to color to compare).
