Description

This is a great resource for Common Core Standard 3.NF.A.3d: Compare two fractions with the same numerator or the same denominator by reasoning about their size.

These pages can be used as morning work, worksheets, assessments, or review for higher grades.

Students are required to compare fraction models to one another and use < , > , and = to show the relationship between the two fractions.

These pages are designed to build children's skill with comparing fractions. The first page deals only with like denominators, the second with like numerators, and the third with both. The students will be asked to partition shapes to match a fraction, as well.

Compare two fractions with the same numerator or the same denominator by reasoning about their size. Recognize that comparisons are valid only when the two fractions refer to the same whole. Record the results of comparisons with the symbols >, =, or <, and justify the conclusions, e.g., by using a visual fraction model.
