Description
These 52 Engaging Math Task Cards enable students to transfer their math skills from the concrete to the abstract.
. . . . They are highly conceptual and contain 52 math questions in ALL!! (Multiple Choice, Multiple Select, Unknown Answer, Short Answer, Fill in the blank).
. . . . Enough questions and question types to provide purposeful differentiation for all levels of learning
Math Task Cards aligned to Common Core Math Standard:
4.NF.2 - Compare two fractions with different numerators and different denominators, e.g., by creating common denominators or numerators, or by comparing to a benchmark fraction such as 1/2. Recognize that comparisons are valid only when the two fractions refer to the same whole. Record the results of comparisons with symbols >, =, or <, and justify the conclusions, e.g., by using a visual fraction model.
- Students will be able to use their understanding of equivalence of fractions as a stepping stone for developing an understanding of how to compare fractions. These task cards will give students multiple ways to look at these comparisons.
- Students will be able to use benchmark fractions such as 1/2 and 1.
- Students will be encourage to use their number sense as they are comparing fractions as opposed to a rote set of memorized procedural steps.
- Students will be able to develop a conceptual understanding of fractional comparisons using number lines as a valuable tool.
- Students will be able to move beyond simply comparing two fractions to ordering a set of fractions with increasing variance in denominators.
