Description

Comparing Fractions Task Cards are a great resource to practice comparing proper fractions, improper fractions, and mixed numbers. This resource includes 28 task cards, a student response worksheet, and an answer key. Questions are open-ended and multiple choice.

What will students review with these task cards?

With these Comparing Fractions Task Cards, students will:

  • Compare a fraction, less than or equal to one, to the benchmarks of 0, 1/2, and 1.
  • Compare two fractions (proper or improper) and/or mixed numbers with like numerators using words (greater than, less than, equal to) and/or symbols (>, <, =).
  • Compare two fractions (proper or improper) and/or mixed numbers with like denominators using words (greater than, less than, equal to) and/or symbols (>, <, =).
  • Represent equivalent fractions using models.

**Denominators used: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 10. Problems with and without models are used.**

What standards are covered?

These Comparing Fractions Task Cards are specifically aligned to the Virginia Math SOL 3.NS.3e-h although they closely align to most math standards related to comparing proper fractions, improper fractions, and mixed numbers.

Is a digital version included?

This Comparing Fractions Task Cards resource includes BOTH a digital version and a PDF version. The digital version can be accessed through Google Forms and allows students to easily self-check their work. You can also use the Google Forms task cards to track student progress.

When you purchase this product, you will be given access to a link that will allow you to open the file in Google Forms. You’ll then share that file with your students.

What if I want to create my own math task cards?

Four blank task cards are included so that you can create additional questions, if needed. For these task cards, you will print the blank cards and write your questions directly on the cards.

I recommend printing these task cards in color and laminating so that they can easily be reused from year to year, although this is not necessary. These task cards also print and are easy to read in grayscale.
