Description

This editable 8th grade math foldable for interactive notebooks provides students with an organized set of practice problems to compare linear, nonproportional functions. Students will make comparisons between a table + equation, table + graph, and graph + description. Within each comparison they may be asked to identify initial values (y-int), rate of change, write linear equations in slope-intercept form, and use the data to solve problems, such as "which is the better deal?".

Perfect for interactive math notebooks! I use this type of assignment during whole group guided instruction, but it would also work great for intervention, small group, centers, or during a tutoring session.

This download includes a print + go PDF version, as well as the editable PowerPoint file.

This was a good review of comparing functions, something my 8th-grade ICS class seems to struggle with each year. I am excited that this resource is now editable.

I loved the examples and layouts. I greatly appreciate the editable powerpoint so that I didn't have to make the foldable and could change it to just simple notes/worksheet. It took a little bit of work to get the worksheet just right (perhaps an option to add in the future for those that don't want to do it as a foldable), but I greatly appreciate the work put in to make such a great product.

Interpret the equation š˜ŗ = š˜®š˜¹ + š˜£ as defining a linear function, whose graph is a straight line; give examples of functions that are not linear. For example, the function š˜ˆ = š‘ Ā² giving the area of a square as a function of its side length is not linear because its graph contains the points (1,1), (2,4) and (3,9), which are not on a straight line.
