Description
How many times have you taught comparing numbers and your students can state which number is bigger but they lack ways to support/prove their thinking? To often enough, we hear the answer, “well the number is greater because it is greater.” If you have heard this response before and want to help your students develop ways they can prove their thinking, this unit is for you!
This 25 page document begins with an inquiry question. This question gets your students thinking about ways to prove that a number is greater than, less than, or equal to. The unit also incudes four strategy posters that teach your students ways to prove a number is truly greater. These strategy posters serve as excellent visual resources in the classroom and help structure the unit. Finally, the unit includes one supporting game per strategy.(This is a total of 4 games.)The games provide the essential practice needed to help students build their reasoning and retain the concepts.
Hope you enjoy! Please feel free to email me, if you would like the Word version.
