Description

Students learn to compare and arrange decimals in increasing/decreasing order using Number Line and Place Value Chart.

It includes:

  • Find 0.1, 0.01 and 0.001 more than/less than a given decimal
  • Compare up to thousandth place value
  • Arrange in decreasing or increasing order up to 4 given decimals
  • Use < , > or = sign when comparing decimals

Examples are provided in this worksheet pack on how to compare decimals using Number Line and a Place Value Chart.

A step-by-step approach is adopted to let students learn progressively. The exercises in the worksheets are arranged in such:

  • Number line is provided to let students understand more than/less than concept which serves as the foundation to compare decimals.
  • Given decimals are marked on number line/placed in place value chart as visual cue for students to compare and arrange.
  • Number Line/Place Value Chart is provided for students to mark the given decimals on number line/fill in the place value chart before comparing and arranging those decimals.
  • Only decimals are given. Students are expected to compare and arrange without any visual cue.

Some exercises (a total of 4 out of 8 exercises) in the last section include fraction as one of the given number for comparison. Use these bonus exercises for revision if your students had already mastered converting fractions to decimals.
