How do you compare decimals?

When you compare whole numbers, you compare the place value of digits by reading them from left to right. The same concept is used when comparing decimals. Decimals are parts of a whole number noted by digits to the right of the decimal point. When comparing whole numbers and decimals, we also use the same symbols: greater than (>), less than (< ), and equal to (=).
