Description

A set of 20 FREE Compound Word Task Cards. These cards are the perfect review for second, third, or fourth grade reading. Try them in a literacy station!

What's included in this free compound words task card set?

  • 20 printable compound words image task cards
  • Recording Sheet
  • Answer Key
  • DIGITAL version in Google Slides

I created these cards to be used with my 3rd grade RtI students as a quick review. Students seem to constantly get tripped up on compound words when, really, they should be easy as pie to read! With my students, I simply displayed the cards on the document projector and had the students say the compound word, separate it into two words, then record it. You could also have students play SCOOT! with it, use it in literacy centers, or in small groups. There are two different recording sheet options.

Looking for even more cards to practice compound words? This free set is just the start! See the full 52-card set with 5 engaging question types HERE!

I used this as a small group activity. We "raced" each other to come up with as many compound words as they could! LOVED IT!

This is such a fun resource! My students enjoyed using this resource in a few different ways, and because of the bright, colorful pictures it was a great way to help my ML students learn new word meanings and to see how these words are spelled.
