Description

Compound word activities are perfect for back to school, the first week of back to school season, Groundhog Day, or anytime you want to review with a fun grammar practice game!

With cute groundhog graphics, these worksheets and task cards invite your students to make compound words. The worksheets can be used as a fun part of a mini lesson. You could get them moving by handing out the cards and having them find their match.

How to use in centers, homework, or desk work:

Students cut and paste words into a sign held by a groundhog. It comes in color or black and white and can be glued into a student journal or notebook. You can also print them and have the students practice writing the compound words in the boxes provided.

These printable PDF compound word activities are designed for students in 1st grade, 2nd grade, and 3rd grade.

You can play compound word games with these task cards. You can print the game cards and play several different games. Instructions for four games are included. You also have a teacher answer key

I recommend laminating the cards or printing them on colored card stock. You also get a blank page to create your own compound word pairs if you need additional words. That way you can use new compound words from any text or lesson all year long.
