Description
This is an extensive common core comprehension and decoding system for use throughout K-6. It will build systemic practice if each teacher incorporates the same material. No matter where a student is (general classroom, resource room, hallway) they should see the same images to reinforce their learning at a higher level. The toolkit includes letter sized handouts, postcard sized handouts, bookmarks and larger wall/table signs. The comprehension strategies include: predicting, clarifying, questioning, synthesizing, visualizing, inferring, schema, determining importance and summarizing. The five (5) finger retell is also incorporated for kindergarten level. The decoding strategies include: look at the picture, turtle tap/tap it out, get your mouth ready, look for chunks, leap frog, does it look right, does it sound right, does it make sense, get a running start, look for clusters (digraphs, blends, vowel teams) and self-correct.

I have used parts of this resource. The small reference cards are particularly helpful.
