Lesson reviewing the basics of percents and introducing percent change and complex percent word problems (from Pre-algebra, Algebra I, and Algebra II).
Goes over:
-Definition and concept of a percent
-Converting between fractions, decimals, and percents
-Calculating percents
-Shortcuts for calculating percents (memorizing easy percent to fraction conversions and “reversing” percent calculations).
-Difference between percent and percent change
-Converting percent changes into the appropriate decimal format
-Terminology related to percents/percent changes (discount, tax, tip, base salary, commission)
-General formula to use with percent word problems
-Using material above in tandem to interpret and solve complex percent word problems

The lesson focuses on building a solid foundation for students to better understand percentages.
