Description

Students learn how to:

  • add the pen tools extension,
  • make a sprite follow their mouse,
  • draw with a sprite,
  • program a sprite to independently draw shapes and geometric patterns.

The editable PowerPoint includes short embedded videos that demonstrate what the student program should be doing at certain points, and it ends with directions for a culminating activity for students to demonstrate their learning. There is also a rubric for the activity. Screenshots are from Scratch 3.0.

This is another resource that balances challenge with instruction. The lessons perfectly set up students to solve coding challenges in Scratch. I felt comfortable guiding students back to the lesson to help them solve the problems. This is a really hard balance to find.
