Description

Step-by-step directions guide students through:

  • using a loop to repeat a sequence of directions,
  • using a loop to make a sprite follow your mouse,
  • using a loop to create a visual illusion,
  • using the next costume shortcut,
  • running multiple scripts at once.

This unit consists of three separate activities of increasing difficulty. Students create a different program in each activity and are then given prompts to demonstrate their learning by adding on to the program. Answer keys are included. The editable Google Slides include short embedded videos that demonstrate what the student program should be doing at certain points. They are encouraged to test and troubleshoot their code. This resource was a great integration of lessons and assessments. I love how thoughtfully planned everything was. We covered enough in each lesson that a teacher could comfortably tell a kid to think back to the lesson to figure out a challenge in the assignment. That balance of instruction and challenge is really difficult to meet!
