Description

A ten lesson unit with full lesson plans and some resources.

With this program your students will spend ten weeks learning to code their own computer games!

Week 1: Explore gaming and computer coding

Week 2: Planning the game

Week 3: Troubleshooting and creating the game

Week 4: Creating the game

Week 5: Creating the game

Week 6: Creating the game

Week 7: Creating the game

Week 8: Testing the games

Week 9: Fixing the games

Week 10: Reflection on the unit

It includes:

  • Project outline
  • Planning template and example
  • Feedback template
  • Reflection sheet
  • Assessment rubric

If you do this unit I would suggest using Scratch. Myself and the Year Six teacher at my school completed this unit with our classes using Scratch and the students were able to successfully create their own games. There is a large amount of support for Scratch meaning students were able to troubleshoot their own issues, rather than relying on the teachers to figure it out.

I wrote this unit based on the Year Five and Six Digital Technologies section of the Technologies Australian Curriculum.
