Description
This is the perfect resource to guide students through the problem-solving process! Contains colorful posters with sentence starters and visual icons, a template (in color or black and white), and 30 practice scenarios describing common day-to-day classroom problems.
This set is a great toolkit for classroom teachers, school counselors, resource staff, special educators, and teachers of exceptional children who need to guide students through the problem-solving process. Students can use the posters all year to practice solving problems safely before, during, or after a problem occurs (see the 30 practice scenarios included for ideas). I use the posters during the first weeks of school to teach problem-solving strategies and continue to refer to the posters throughout the rest of the year.
When a student is too upset to refer to the posters in the moment, I ask the student to take a break and complete the template while calming down. This provides students with a safe, structured way to take a break while calming down and preparing to think through the problem. Students can also complete the template with a partner to prepare for a role-play about a specific situation. The visual icons are particularly helpful for all children in primary and elementary grades as well as children with autism.
Enjoy, and thanks for your feedback!
