Description

This PowerPoint is designed to be used either in a physical classroom or in a Zoom (or other distance learning) classroom.

This PowerPoint is intended to serve as a part of the unit on Polygon (including Triangle) Congruence. It contains guided notes, examples and practice problems.

This lesson is designed to increase student class participation (including during distance learning) as each student’s active response is required for most problems. In a distance learning environment, this lesson utilizes Zoom capabilities for student response built into the problems. Students are asked to click yesnogo slower or go faster as one of their response choices. In a physical no-tech classroom, students are asked to use their fingers to show their answer choice in each multiple choice question. In both no-tech and Zoom classroom, the teacher will have instant access to student responses (on Zoom - summary stats and individual responses).

This lesson contains:

· Definition of a polygon

· Definition of congruent figures

· Definition of congruent polygons

· Writing and using congruence statements

· Triangle congruence postulates and theorems (SSS, SAS, ASA, AAS and HL) with examples

· Practice problems – multiple choice, designed for student immediate response (including 2 problems with overlapping triangles)

· 4 proofs are included among practice problems

*NOT* included: CPCTC

Included are 2 PowerPoint files:
1. blank guided notes (can be used as a student handout and/or a slide show by the teacher)
2. filled in guided notes (can be used as either a slide show or an answer key reference).

Both files are completely editable - feel free to edit to fit your needs!

Students can follow the lesson easily, filling in the blanks and working out examples as the lesson is presented. Some of the examples may be used as guided or independent practice. Each slide is numbered for easy reference during the lesson. (I don’t number problems, only slides to avoid confusion.) Individual slides may be used as part of an interactive notebook.

Suggested printing for student handout or teacher reference: 4 slides per page with landscape orientation (this is what I use) OR 3 slides per page with portrait orientation.

Total number of slides: 69 slides in each file (138 in total)
