Description
In this self-checking, no prep activity, students will practice identifying if triangles are congruent or not. If the triangles are congruent, students must state which theorem they used to determine this.
Students must need to know how to identify if triangles are congruent and state why.
- ASA, SAS, SSS, AAS, HL all included.
- Triangles that are not congruent are also included. For these questions, students will type "NC" in the box as the answer.
In this self-checking activity, students will answer 16 questions about congruent triangles as they receive instant feedback. If the triangles are not congruent, students will type “NC” into the box. For all others, enter the congruence theorem that tells you how they are congruent. But wait, there’s more! Not only do students get immediate feedback along with an image to increase student engagement, but they also get to customize that image. In this activity, after enough correct responses, students are able to customize their snowman with various hats, facial expressions and/or accessories.
After solving the question on a whiteboard, scratch paper, or the provided workspace, students type their final answer into the appropriate cell. If correct, the student receives immediate feedback as they build a snowman.
In contrast, when students answer incorrectly, their answer turns red to let them know they should go back and revise their answer or seek help from the instructor.
STUDENTS AND TEACHERS DO NOT NEED PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF GOOGLE SHEETS TO ENJOY THE ACTIVITY. HOWEVER, PLEASE BE SURE TO GIVE EACH STUDENT A COPY OF THE RESOURCE SO THEY DON'T ACCIDENTALY EDIT YOUR ORIGINAL COPY.
**Please Note: This activity is only for Google Sheets, there is not a PDF copy of the activity included.
Suggestions for use:
- Assign to students in Google Classroom or other LMS. Students will simplify the expressions and then click and drag the lettered pieces to match the numbered expressions. The pieces are currently mismatched in alphabetical order right now.
- The directions on the student version are editable in case you wanted to add or delete anything specific to your classes before sending and assigning to students. The questions themselves are not editable.
Please take a look at the preview to make sure that this activity is appropriate level for your students.
