Description
This worksheet provides practice with both graphing parabolas and writing equations of parabolas in standard (or vertex) form. There are four questions where the students are given the equation of a parabola in vertex form and they need to identify the vertex, focus, equation of the directrix, which direction the parabola opens and then sketch a graph of the parabola. There are six problems where students are given the vertex and the focus of a parabola and they need to write the equation and sketch the graph of the parabola. A key is included. I have used this in my Algebra 2, Precalculus , and even in my Geometry classes because conic sections have been in each curriculum over the years. This worksheet makes for an excellent homework assignment or even an in-class quiz.
