Are you looking for a Little to No-Prep activity for improving student knowledge and understanding of Connotation and Denotation? This set includes both the printable task cards and a Google Slides practice assessment.
So many options.....
- Fast Finishers - Print, cut, laminate and place them somewhere in your room for those that finish an assignment early.
- SCOOT - Pass out one task card to each student. They complete it and then they would either SCOOT or the card could SCOOT to the next person/desk.
- Stations: Set up stations with a few task cards at each station. Students then rotate through the stations in small collaborative groups.
- Bell Ringer/Exit Ticket: Present one of the included slides and have students complete it as they enter/exit the room or at the beginning or introduction of the lesson.
- Games: Split your students up into two or more even groups, and give each student a white board and a marker. Present a Google Slide version of the Task Card. Have students write their answer on the white board. Give them a few seconds and then ask them to share their boards with you. Count up the number of correct answers in each group. Call up a person from the winning group to shoot a basket, take a soft shot with a small soft ball towards a goal etc.
- Four Corners: Present a slide. Students write their answer down. Then, ask them to go to predetermined corners that you’ve chosen to represent A, B, C, & D.
* Choose one of the above options, or get creative in your own way.

Google Slides Version:
- contains the same passage and format as the task cards explained above
- Present and complete whole group if you choose.
