Description

Rectangular Box of Colored Constructive Triangles (Set 1 Box 1) Extension Cards provide fun extension activities to the sensorial presentations and lessons. This is a set of 30 cards to use with the constructive triangles. If you don't have the actual triangle material, you can purchase it here. The cards are provided for you in PDF format.

Use these cards for your child or student to:

  • improve concentration, coordination, independence, and problem solving skills
  • develop visual discrimination
  • match solid objects with plane (2D) figures to assist the move from concrete to abstract
  • name the shapes constructed by the triangles.
  • develop the logical mathematical mind.
  • indirectly prepare for the concept of equivalence and the derivation of area.
  • give the child practical experience in plane geometry.
  • come to a point of consciousness that the triangles are called ‘constructive’ because they construct other rectilinear shapes.

To make the cards:

  1. Cut along the light grey dotted lines
  2. Print on white card stock
  3. Laminate (optional)

(Edited) This work is fantastic for young learners beginning to explore the Constructive Triangles. The cards consist of pictures of two triangles put together for students to copy with the Constructive Triangles. (These are not traditional Command Cards with a command on one side and the expected result on the other.) The pictures perfectly depict the Constructive Triangles and make great shelf work for younger students.

I encourage you to check out the preview so you will know exactly what you are purchasing - I am very careful to include all the cards in the preview so you are getting exactly what the listing says. If you’d like a copy of the cards that have commands and purchased this one in error I am happy to send you a digital copy by email. I’m at minkybubs@gmail.com

Identify shapes as two-dimensional (lying in a plane, “flat”) or three-dimensional (“solid”).
Analyze and compare two- and three-dimensional shapes, in different sizes and orientations, using informal language to describe their similarities, differences, parts (e.g., number of sides and vertices/“corners”) and other attributes (e.g., having sides of equal length).
Distinguish between defining attributes (e.g., triangles are closed and three-sided) versus non-defining attributes (e.g., color, orientation, overall size); build and draw shapes to possess defining attributes.
