Lesson Description: It’s time for some word surgery and we need some doctors to help with all these broken bones! For this lesson, students will take on the role of a contraction doctor taking two words to create one “short cut”. This hands-on activity will help students understand the patterns of similar contractions and the use of apostrophes.

Big Ideas: Learn how to create contractions and understand the proper use of punctuation in contractions. Understand there are multiple uses for punctuation.
