Description

There are three types or formats of linear equations or functions that are typically taught in Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and Math I (standard form, SIF and point-slope). The attached MS PowerPoint slideshow describes in detail the steps I use to convert a linear equation in slope-intercept form (SIF) to standard form. This presentation is classroom-tested. It can initially be used in 8th grade math or for review purposes with Algebra I or Math I (typically 9th graders). It not only specifies the steps to convert the SIF equation but also includes the steps to manually graph the line once the standard form equation is found. This ppt presentation is fully animated and includes a certain amount of audio as well to keep the students engaged. The last slide includes 3 practice examples for the students to complete.
