Description

This is a 24-page PDF that addresses 6.RP.A.3d. It includes practice converting capacity (fluid ounces, cups, pints, quarts, gallons, liters, cubic centimeters), linear units (inches, feet, yards, centimeters, miles, kilometers), and weight (ounces, pounds, kilograms, tons).

There is a 24-card task card set that includes a recording sheet and an answer key. Each card gives the student the conversion factor and then presents the units to be converted. There are 4 cards per page for 6 pages, and then 2 pages of answer sheet/answer key.

When I made the set, I worked backwards from the PARCC published sheet of conversions that will be given to students during the assessment. The numbers used are the same as those guidelines, and all measurements included on the PARCC guidelines are addressed in some manner in this bundle (I included 5th grade, as well, to pull in the ft/in/yd).

This file also contains a set of 9 worksheets (9 pages) and answer keys (7 pages) that present the various conversions in ratio form and involve converting or problem solving using those conversions. Several of the sheets require the students to solve a problem and then record some responses in writing.

This set was specifically created to address the 6.RP.A.3d requirement of using ratio reasoning to convert measurement units, and manipulate/transform units using multiplication and division. I specifically included the use of algebraic notation to represent many of the conversions and several questions require the students to identify the conversion factor in algebraic form. (ie: 4Q= G, or 1/4G =Q)
