Description

This count and clip insects activity is a fun and engaging way for Pre-K students to practice important early math skills while connecting to the Creative Curriculum insects unit. Teachers simply print, cut, and laminate the cards (optional) for a reusable, hands-on center activity. Students count the number of insects shown on each card and use a clothespin to clip the corresponding number, helping reinforce number identification and one-to-one correspondence skills.

This activity combines math practice with fine motor development. Using clothespins helps strengthen the small muscles in students’ hands and fingers, which supports future writing skills. The insect theme keeps students engaged and makes learning feel playful and meaningful during an insects study. This resource works well for math centers, independent practice, small groups, early finishers, or intervention activities. It is also easy to prep, reusable, and visually appealing for young learners.
