Description

In this fun, collaborative activity, students will practice the processes of transcription and translation by attempting to decipher sentences encoded by their peers. It's a great way to practice matching codons to amino acids, without being tedious or boring! It could also be used to assess student understanding of the transcription/translation process.

This pushed my students out of their comfort zone as they were still fairly new to transcription and translation, but they were fully engaged and enjoyed the fun that determining their own starting sentence allowed. Checking with another student allowed them to catch (and fix) errors in understanding and led to great conversations.
