Description

This is a series of projects so students can learn about social contract and creating their own government.

It starts with a scenario that students had a plane crash and land on a deserted island. They start living in "state of nature" where everything goes, then turns into "social contract" where there are rules and they create their own government.

Part 1: Students draw the island they land on (there are guidelines), explain who is on the island with them (there is a graphic organizer for this part), then they answer 10 questions about their island.

Part 2: The people on the island are hungry and students need to explain how food is found and divided.

Part 3: Students come up with laws/punishments for crimes and establish a government.

Part 4: Students redraw the island for how it looks 5 years in the future. They establish who is now on the island 5 years later. Then answer 10 questions about their island now.

Part 5: The island is invaded and the students have to explain how the government worked to protect the people. This is a writing assignment with guiding questions.
