Have students create their own colonies! I used this when teaching the colonization of America and my students loved it! We then had a conversation where we compared their colonies to those that actually existed. It was a great way to personalize the topic which lead to meaningful learning!

*I would recommend having the students presenting their colonies after filling out their packets. This packet took my students about 1-2 weeks to fill out. The file will be a ".docx" file, so you can make changes so it's personalized for your classroom setting.
