Creating A Jukebox Musical Project
Share

Description

Students LOVE using their favorite music to create a jukebox musical. This bundle includes:
-A power point presentation that defines the term "jukebox musical" and outlines the types of songs that should appear in every musical
-A rubric for a project in which students create their own jukebox musical

I allow my students to choose either an artist or an era on which to base their musical. I explain that they can choose to do a musical like Jersey Boys, which uses an artist's music to tell that artist's story OR a musical like American Idiot, which uses an artist's music to tell an unrelated story. They may also choose to create something along the lines of Rock Of Ages, which takes its songs from a given decade and style.

This is always a highlight in my Drama II class! The students come up with some really fun and exciting ideas!

This was a good basic overview of what a jukebox musical was and lead to the assignemnt for my group to create thier own musical. I think it could have been more discriptive in the type of songs and maybe including some links to examples of each song.

This was very helpful for introducing the concept of a jukebox musical so that my Intro to Theatre students could outline their own. They had such a blast finding the different types of songs and then creating a storyline to go with them! I didn't originally plan to do posters and presentations, but my kids were so invested, we stretched this into a whole marketing unit!

My students were very engaged! I did end up needing to create my own presentation to use with my students but they were very engaged in the activity and I loved seeing what they came up with!
