In this lesson, students will use their knowledge of maps to build their own country by creating a map and designing the country using a foldable color folder. This lesson might be done in a couple of class sessions or as an extended assignment. This can be used anytime of the year and with a wide variety of subject matter or just to fill in some time before or after a holiday.
I have included a rubric for you, but you can easily create one for your own needs.
This activity can be adapted to fit a variety of grade levels and subjects. This activity can be used in an economic class when studying economic systems, a social studies class when studying different landforms, or just as an arts and craft project.
