Description

This provides enough material for a full semester of a Creative Writing class. This course is designed for 10-12 grade students, but could easily be adapted for 6-9 grade students. Additionally, if more time is spent in class on writing assignments than is spent as homework, this curriculum would be enough for a whole year.

This course curriculum includes a course overview with a suggested timeline. It also includes multiple units focusing on different skills used in creative writing. Each unit includes instructions, example texts, practice assignment, and a writing assignment. Rubrics and peer editing activities are also included.

Units include: action writing, characterization, descriptions, dialogue, screenwriting, editing, flash fiction, mood/tone, narrative nonfiction, and poetry. Additional resources are included which offer additional assignment opportunities and suggestions.

Overall, it included some ideas that I found helpful. However, I ended up using it more as a supplemental resource. The materials seem disjointed and mismatched. To me, the number of materials was not worth the price.

There is not enough material here for a semester. The best part of the product is the part that is in the preview. Everything else seems to be ideas, links to websites, or screenshots from her computer.

Thank you for this feedback - I really do appreciate it. My goal is to put out materials that are useful and as advertised. I've gone through and added new materials and explanations where they may have been lacking. I would love to send you some of my additions if you're interested.
