Description

Teachers can have their students practice their research skills with this Current Events activity. It might be different than the regular ones that you see. I differentiated it so that students try to shorten their responses to one slide. It can be challenging, so teachers can always edit this and include more than one slide.

Ask the students to research any events that they think has impacted the international community. Almost any topic could work: Science, Entertainment, Weather, Youth-related, Art, etc. You can have them search for something outside of their own country. The goal is have them use their research skills, choose an article that has a global impact, and provide a claim on why their article is important.

Another part of this activity is to find a Youtube video that relates to their specific article, or at least a Youtube video that covers a similar topic.

To practice collaboration and public speaking skills, the students can share their Google Slides with their partner, table group, whole class, or combination.

Includes:

  • Directions for teachers
  • Directions for students (with link for the template) and instructions on how to fill out the slide.
