Description

Make math centers fun and engaging when learning about measuring customary length to the nearest 1/8 inch with this set of task cards with QR codes. All objects are lined up with the ruler. There are 40 self-checking task cards include the following types of questions:

Cards 1-16: Measuring objects to the nearest 1/8 inch when the object is lined up with the "ZERO" mark on the ruler.

Cards 17-32: Measuring objects to the nearest 1/8 inch when the object is lined at one of the 1/2 inch marks (NOT ON ZERO).

Cards 33-40: Measuring objects to the nearest 1/8 inch when the object is NOT lined up with the zero or half-inch mark.

BONUS: There is a link to access a digital version of these task cards in a google slide document. You will have to "make a copy" of the slideshow, and then you'll be able to share with students electronically via google classroom or a similar web-based program so students can answer the questions and "turn in" the digital version for grading/assessing.

These cards would be a great addition to any classroom learning about measuring objects to the nearest 1/8 inch.

Make a line plot to display a data set of measurements in fractions of a unit (1/2, 1/4, 1/8). Solve problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions by using information presented in line plots. For example, from a line plot find and interpret the difference in length between the longest and shortest specimens in an insect collection.
