Are you looking for an organized PowerPoint to use to introduce your students to U.S. customary units of measurement? If so, this highly interactive 97-slide PowerPoint or Google Slides lesson may be exactly what you are looking for! The presentation can be used to create multiple lessons and be used over several days. So many practice opportunities are included for measuring length, mass, and capacity with metric units! Conversion tables, word problems, estimation problems, and multiple-choice questions are some of the practice problems included.

There are four main sections in this PowerPoint/Google Slides Lesson:

  1. Introduction to Measurement (definitions for length, weight, capacity, and unit): 13 slides
  2. Measuring Length with the U.S. Customary System (inches, feet, yards & miles): 27 slides
  3. Measuring Weight with the U.S. Customary System (ounces, pounds & tons): 27 slides
  4. Measuring Capacity with the U.S. Customary System (cups, pints, quarts, & gallons): 29 slides

EACH section (length, mass, and capacity) includes slides that focus on the following skills:

  • Conversions (example: 4 feet = 48 inches)
  • Conversion tables
  • Estimating Units of Measurement (example: estimating how many gallons are in a swimming pool)
  • Comparing 2 measurements (>, <, or =)
  • Ordering 3 measurements from greatest to least
  • Ordering 3 measurements from least to greatest
  • Multiple-Choice Questions (ordering 4 measurements)
  • Word Problems
