Description
***UPDATED 2024!*** Help students gain descriptive writing skills with this no-prep, 33-page/slide Descriptive Writing Lesson, Practice, Activity, and Assessment Mini Unit. The easy-to-follow Guided Notes process will help students understand how to write, identify, and edit to include descriptive writing. A PowerPoint, Guided Notes, Guided Practice, Scavenger Hunt Activity, and Multiple-Choice Practice/Assessment are included making this an engaging scaffolded approach that uses the “I Do, We Do, You Do” method effectively.
What are Guided Notes?
Guided Notes make note-taking easy! The PowerPoint and the Notes go together. As the teacher presents the PowerPoint, students fill in the blanks on the Guided Notes sheet. This strategy helps students focus, ensures that they get the required information, but makes it easy for them to keep up. PLUS you can provide the answer keys to absent students, to differentiate for special needs students, or on your LMS as a study guide.
These Writing Mini Lesson Handouts and PowerPoints are included:
•Teacher Directions
•Guided Notes PowerPoint (can be used with or without guided notes sheet)
•Guided Notes PDF (includes blanks to fill in as you go over PowerPoint)
•Guided Practice PDF (included on the PowerPoint to practice as a class, in partners, or independently)
•Descriptive Words Scavenger Hunt Activity PDF (students explore the included list of descriptive words to complete 4 tasks; list of words can also be used as an Anchor Chart)
•Additional CCSS-aligned Practice PDF (multiple-choice; can be used as practice, assessment, or in guided small groups)
•Answer Keys for everything!
