Directions: I give the student 2 goals (for example, "Keep your hands to yourself." or "Used walking feet.") Then, list up to 8 specific times during the day under the schedule. (For example, "Morning Work, Reading, Writing etc...) For the student to show they are meeting their goal in a short period of time, they color the smiley face according to how well they did during the scheduled time. (or you can use the stamps or sticker forms) You can track the data daily to share with parents or at data meetings.

There is a contract provided where you can make a "deal" with the student. For example, "If I make 6 out of 8 smiley faces, then I get to go to the treasure box." I also provided a poster of Big Problem/ Little Problem. This poster has been so helpful for students who are not able to control their emotions over small issues.

This student learning contract is a valuable resource for promoting accountability and student ownership of learning. The layout is clear, structured, and easy for both students and teachers to follow, making expectations transparent from the start. I especially appreciate how it encourages goal setting and reflection, helping students take an active role in their progress. The format is flexible and can be adapted for a variety of grade levels and needs, including students who benefit from additional structure and support. It works well for behavior goals, academic targets, or a combination of both. This resource is easy to implement and has been effective in supporting student motivation and responsibility in my classroom. It’s a practical tool for fostering independence and building positive learning habits. I would highly recommend it!
