Description

My name is Tom Bogus, I have 27 years of teaching experience. I have compiled 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade math activities that are highly engaging, called Dash To Math. Think of the activities as a bridge between Math and Physical Education. By using Dash To Math we can close the achievement gap and fight obesity.

The Dash To Math activities integrate both Math and Fitness. While performing the math activities, the students are fully engaged in physical fitness. I designed the activities to assist students in making the cognitive connections needed to perform well in the classroom. I believe when you stimulate the brain through exercise, the information will be more easily recalled.

Enclosed in this mini-bundle are five 4th grade math activities that focus on Operations and Algebraic Thinking.

Interpret a multiplication equation as a comparison, e.g., interpret 35 = 5 × 7 as a statement that 35 is 5 times as many as 7 and 7 times as many as 5. Represent verbal statements of multiplicative comparisons as multiplication equations.
Multiply or divide to solve word problems involving multiplicative comparison, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem, distinguishing multiplicative comparison from additive comparison.
Solve multistep word problems posed with whole numbers and having whole-number answers using the four operations, including problems in which remainders must be interpreted. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding.
