Description

Teaching decimals can be tricky, but finding no-prep, ready-to-use decimal activities to supplement your instruction doesn't have to be! This bundled set of decimal task cards covers four key decimal concepts:

  1. Decimal Place Value: Standard and Expanded Form
  2. Converting Decimals and Fractions
  3. Comparing and Ordering Decimals
  4. Adding and Subtracting Decimals

Each of these sets has two different types of cards to provide a variety of different decimal problems and experiences. They are low-prep and ready to use.

How can I use them?

  • As math warm ups
  • In math centers or math stations
  • For intervention groups
  • As review or as a supplement for your textbook or math series
  • For standardized test prep

What makes my task cards unique is that they are NOT just fill-in-the-blank and require a higher depth of understanding than what many textbooks and resources expect. In addition, these cards are perfect to help prepare students for standardized testing!

Finally, these task cards offer an additional level of challenge. Whether you use this feature for your entire class or for those students needing it, each type of problem also has BLANK task cards for students to write their own problems following the same format. This is a great way for students to challenge themselves, to be able to apply their knowledge in a new way, and to create even more problems to share!

INCLUDED:

  • 104 color and black and white task cards
  • Blank task cards for students to create their own problems
  • Mini task card pages for recording solutions
  • Answer keys

We used this activity (laminated the cards) for small group as well as a scoot game. In true Teacher Studio fashion, the resource is easy to prep, easy to implement, and fully aligned to standards. I know I can always count on quality with any of her products.

Read and write decimals to thousandths using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form, e.g., 347.392 = 3 × 100 + 4 × 10 + 7 × 1 + 3 × (1/10) + 9 × (1/100) + 2 × (1/1000).
Compare two decimals to thousandths based on meanings of the digits in each place, using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of comparisons.
Express a fraction with denominator 10 as an equivalent fraction with denominator 100, and use this technique to add two fractions with respective denominators 10 and 100. For example, express 3/10 as 30/100, and add 3/10 + 4/100 = 34/100.
