This is a lesson on decimals estimations in calculations with additions. This method of computation practice sparks thinking and engagement as students employ reasoning and estimation as a precursor to computing each item in this slide deck.
Together the teacher and students are using mathematical communication to build computation skills and number sense.
Opportunities to Respond (OTR) are incorporated into this lesson via printable student hold-ups. See slide 3 for those printable response cards.
The resource is specifically compatible with Virginia Standard of Learning 4.6a but it aligns with other states standards as well.
