Description
Practicing decimal operations is important to work toward skill mastery. Students will practice adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing decimals. There is 3 of each type of problem in this activity. Students will practice 12 problems where they solve decimal problems and each answer identifies a color they will use to color the picture on the second page. There are 3 answer choices so it provides some practice for multiple choice assessments. While there are 12 problems for the students to solve and the picture is fairly simple so they don't spend too much class time coloring the picture.
Color by Number Assignments:
- Are No Prep Activities
- Make grading by the teacher easier because it is quick to identify which problems were solved incorrectly.
- Encourage students to do all the math before the coloring. There is a spot on the picture side to record what color goes with each answer so they have it all in one place before they color.
Easy to modify if needed:
- Quick finishers: the coloring is a great thing to keep them busy
- Short on time: If for some reason you don’t have time for everyone to get the coloring finished you can always exempt some (or all).
- Learning Needs: Exempting the coloring is an easy way to modify the quantity of work for some while still having them complete the practice problems.
Check out these decimal worksheets to provide more practice on specific skills along with some decimal related activities.
