- Identify the values of the digits in a decimal
- Use a number line to display decimals
- Compare and order decimals
- Convert a decimal to a fraction and a fraction to decimals
- Round off decimals to the nearest whole number, 1 decimal place, 2 decimal places
- Place a given decimal on a number line between two consecutive whole numbers/ tenths/ hundredths
- Determine which whole numbers/ tenths/ hundredths are nearer to the given decimal
- Add fractions and answer in decimals
Understanding place value is crucial for mastering decimals, and this resource provides targeted exercises that cover this topic extensively. Students will engage in fill-in-the-blank sentences and ordering exercises that challenge them to think critically about the value of digits in decimal numbers. They will also practice writing the values of digits in given decimal numbers, reinforcing their comprehension of place value.
This resource includes 12 non-prep worksheets:
Measurements and Decimals (6 pages): Students will read shapes and write fractions and decimals. They will read the number lines to determine the correct decimal number and measure the length of objects in decimals, too.
Decimals and Place Values (4 pages): Students will convert decimals to fractions and fractions to decimals to have a better understanding of the relationship between them. They will compare and order decimals from smallest to greatest, and vice versa. Also, determining the place values of decimal numbers correctly from tenths up to thousandths.
Addition of Fractions and Decimals (3 pages): Students will practice adding fractions and write their answers in decimals. They will also break down the decimal number into tens, ones, tenths, hundredths, and thousandths. Lastly, write how many tenths, hundredths, and thousandths are in each number.
Rounding Decimals (3 pages): Students will practice rounding off decimals to the nearest whole number, one decimal place, and two decimal places. They will solve word problems by rounding decimals as well. Lastly, there is a revision sheet at the end on decimals and fractions, packed with a range of questions.
The answer key (5 pages) is provided at the end of the pack.
