Decimals: Standard, Expanded, and Word Forms
Students will practice writing decimals in standard (numeral) form, expanded form, and word form.
Students will see one of the following on each card:
-a number written in standard form
-a number written in word form
-a number broken down into place value form (digits written in a place value template)
Students will be asked to do one of the following on each card:
-type the number in standard form
-drag tiles to create the correct expanded from
-drag tiles to create the correct word form
Examples of each form are provided on the first slides.
5.NBT.3 Read, write, and compare decimals to thousandths. a. Read and write decimals to thousandths using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form, e.g., 347.392 = 3 × 100 + 4 × 10 + 7 × 1 + 3 × (1/10) + 9 × (1/100) + 2 × (1/1000).
