Description
This is a decoding pack I use with my 3rd and 4th graders to practice and assess ar & or R-controlled vowels. This included words with: ar, or, oar, & ore. The pack includes:
*A one-page assessment with below level, on level, and beyond level variant vowel words. The three different levels allows for differentiated instruction and assessment results.
*A word-sort literacy center activity. I have provided a print out of variant vowel words and a sorting mat to go along. I print out the words, laminate and cut them, then place them in envelopes along with the sorting mat. This is a fun way to expose the students to the decoding skill for the week, with little need for teacher help.
After the practicing the words and sounds all week, your students will be decoding ar & or R-controlled vowels with ease!
